Enjoy the Colors, Shapes and Designs of Tahitian Pearls

Tahitian pearls are now becoming the “in thing” when it comes to jewelry. These pearls are unique because of its color, usually black or dark, unlike the common pearls which are milky white in color. They also come in different shapes and sizes making them fit perfectly to the kind of jewelry they are being put – may it be a necklace, a bracelet, earrings or a ring. Tahitian pearls can make your jewelry one of a kind.

These types of pearls are produced by black-lipped oysters. Tahitian pearl farmers know that they will be producing black pearls with those types of oysters. Still, black lipped oysters can produce pearls that vary in color. Aside from black, Tahitian pearls can be white, different shades of gray, bronze, and sometimes greenish or with a hint of purple. These colors make these pearls exquisite and perfect for jewelry making.

This type of pearls also comes in varying shapes. The usual shape of pearls is perfectly round but black pearls are utterly different. There can be perfectly round pearls and these perfectly round shapes are the rarest and the most expensive of all. Tahitian pearls can also be semi-round which means they have no perfect diameter. Semi-baroque pearls are those pearls with imperfect shapes but still have a certain point of rotation. This shape can be subdivided into four different types – the drop, the button, the pear and the oval. Another shape is the ringed pearl. These pearls contain streaks around the body. And the last shape is the baroque. These are completely imperfect pearls that have no point of rotation. Because of the varying color and shapes of Tahitian pearls, they are now being commonly used in designing jewelry and the final products do sell in the market, with actually a high demand.
