Pearl pendants are the standout piece in any type of pearl. When designing pearl jewelry, it is easy for designers to create beautiful, unique pieces due to the fact that there are so many different types of pearls. Types of pearls include Freshwater, Akoya, Tahitian and South Sea Pearls. Another wonderful thing about pearls is that they come in many diverse shapes and sizes. Freshwater pearls are the smallest pearls, and they can come in sizes as small as a seed.

Many of these pearls can be grown per oyster with this type of pearl, making them one of the most common types of pearls. Akoya pearls generally do not grow any larger than 6-8 mm. These pearls are exceptional because they are always perfectly round pearls. Tahitian pearls starts growing in the oyster at 8mm. and can only have one pearls grown per oyster.

These pearls come in colors ranging from blue to black, to peacock, to purple. South Sea pearls are the highest quality of pearls and like Tahitians only contain on pearl in oyster. These pearls are also known for their remarkable colors of silver and gold. The different shapes of pearl allow designers to create amazing pieces they are different each time. Pendants are made out of all shapes of pearls imaginable.

One of the most beautiful shapes of pearls for pendants are teardrop shapes. These pearls subtly hang off gold and silver settings, creating sophisticated and gorgeous pieces.
