Need and Idea for a Gift- How About a Pearl Necklace

Pearls are the perfect gift to give for any occasion. The prices of pearls vary so much that giving them as a token of friendship, a “thank you” gift or a congratulatory present is easily done. Pearls are the most unique gemstones in the world because they come in so many different shapes, colors, sizes and types.

Each pearl has distinctive characteristics that set is apart from other pearls. Some of the most common and most affordable types of pearls are Freshwater pearls. These pearls are mass produced and cost less to produce than other types of pearls, which makes them the least expensive. These pearls come in many different shapes and sizes. The science of enhancing pearl color has increased tremendously and the pearls can be seen in numerous colors.

AKoya pearls are interesting pearls because they are always perfectly round. During the time of implantation, an irritant that is seamless in shape is placed inside the oyster in order to nucleate the oyster. The nacre inside the oyster then grows over this irritant to create a unflawed pearl (in shape). These pearls are also the some of the smallest pearls made. They start growing at 3-4 mm and grow to sizes of only about 10 mm. Tahitian pearls are one of the most sought after pearls because of the many different colors they come in. Though these pearls are considered black, these pearls come in tones like purple, gray, turquoise and even peacock.

Tahitian pearls were first grown in Tahitian and though they are only grown in a few other places around the world, they are one of the most popular pearls. One reason for this is the large sizes that they come in. Like Tahitian pearls, South Sea pearls also come in large sizes, ranging from about 8mm to 18mm. South Sea pearls are also admired for their distinctive colors of gold, silver, cream, and caramel. One thing is sure, that pearls are the best gifts to give on any occasion. At Aloha Pearls, the largest variety of pearls in Hawaii will help you decide which pearl is right for you.
